Ta-ta to the UK

It was interesting to note that the BBC news has positioned Jaguar Land Rover opening a manufacturing plant as a “British” success story.

It was probably inevitable that cars for the Chinese marketplace would be switched to a lower-cost manufacturing base with the subsequent profits going back to the owner (Tata) in India.

The chilling part of the news was when they revealed that there would be local designs for the Chinese cars – so design/development will be undertaken in China. This could be the start of Tata
saying “ta ta” to the UK.
