Suicide bomb

We are assured by the UK Government that Trident is vital to our national security, but never told how this might be achieved, nor reminded that to use it is to commit suicide.

Many of our enemies revel in the prospect of dying for their causes, and a massively armed Russia is not likely to be deterred if its government considers our annihilation to be in its national interest.

So just who does Trident deter? By diverting resources from aspects of national defence that we can actually deploy, spending on Trident is more of a threat to our security than a guarantee of its integrity.
