Influential argument Responding to the BBC on the news that several Scottish institutions had withdrawn from the Confederation of British Industry as result of its declared support for the Union, John Cridland, its director-general, said: “We are not trying to campaign to influence the Scottish voter.’’ If he isn’t, what exactly is he trying to do?
