Stormy weather

Regarding your article, “Weirdest weather yet: Scots sandstorm” (17 April), dust storms or sand storms are a well-known occurrence in
the Laich of Moray in periods of dry, windy weather in April or May.

They are well documented in meteorological records. On this occasion, the first report of blowing dust at RAF Lossiemouth was on 14 April.

It was included in itt airfield forecast on 15 and 16 April.
