Stalking and culling

I read with a great deal of amusement Angus MacMillan's letter regarding the conflict between ramblers and stalkers (7 May), in which he states, "the stalking industry is responsible for the artificially high deer numbers".

Deer breed naturally, they are not bred artificially for stalking. If they were not culled, there would be even larger numbers competing for the available food, and consequently some would die of starvation. Perhaps he would prefer that to happen.
