Speck of truth

The government’s latest attempt to limit the freedom of speech of everyone, not just extremists, obliges universities to censor all external speakers, whoever they are, by requiring advance notice of content of an event, including an outline of topics to be discussed and sight of any presentations.

It is interesting that at the same time, a petition is being established to demand that politicians should not be free to tell lies in parliament. Restricting the freedom of everyone is no way to stop the terrorism of a few. Quite apart from the bureaucratic nightmare the government is creating, Mr Cameron should remember that those who want to tell others to remove the speck from their eyes should first remove the plank from their own. The government is in no position to take the moral high ground.
