Sortie stuns

Walter Baxter’s wonderful photograph on the Letters page (17 December) is utterly compelling.

Without the two Hercules aircraft it would be beautiful; with them it is somehow also very apt.

In the midst of horrific world news here are two huge machines, like a pair of sprightly grannies, having a giggle in the glen.
