SNP’s meals catch

I WRITE to put the record straight regarding the account of the recent vote in parliament on free school meals by Catriona C Clark (Letters, 9 January).

While Ms Clark is correct in saying that both Conservatives and Labour voted against the motion, they did so only because the motion went on to argue that only independence would deliver a fair society for young people.

Had the SNP not included this catch, I’m sure MSPs on all sides would have united in supporting this measure.
