SNP must be taught a lesson

I WAS heartened by your lead story (News, 7 December) suggesting Jim Murphy is turning his fire on the government’s disastrous education policy.

But as well as targeting failing schools and children from underprivileged families, he needs to pledge to raise teacher numbers across Scotland from their ten-year low – the legacy of an SNP that promised smaller class sizes were at the top of its agenda, and has been crowing (no doubt as a diversion) about its Curriculum for “Excellence”.
