Skipper check

In response to your article, “Rare butterfly found in Glencoe” (12 June), I’m sorry to be a bit of a killjoy, but Dan Watson’s optimistic claim to be the first person to identify the Chequered Skipper in Glencoe is 30 years too late.

I was made aware of its existence in the Dalness area of Glen Etive by a team of enthusiastic entomologists who visited the glen for many years. We used to see it regularly thereafter.
