Sitting ducks

I had to read the article twice on the concreting of a bench on the summit of Ben Nevis (your report, 13 June) and the comments of the apologists therein.

I have in my lifetime met educationally challenged people, who because of a natural cleverness and an ability to keep their wits about them have done rather well in life; I have also met people with a sound university education with all matter of qualifications who did not possess a modicum of common sense and some have ended up
employed in menial jobs.

The comments made and the lack of seeing their completely misguided actions for what they are is breathtaking. I will make no comment about what the road to Hell is paved with but would hope these poor, misguided souls have the decency to climb the mountain again and remove any
debris left behind.
