Silent majority?

Blair Jenkins, chief executive of Yes Scotland, is mistaken in saying: “David Cameron is seriously out of touch if he thinks there is a silent majority in Scotland in favour of the Tories and their austerity agenda” (your report, 3 July).

David Cameron was not speaking for the silent majority in favour of the Tories and their austerity agenda.

He was speaking for the majority in favour of retaining the Union and of securing the recovery from a deep recession.

Had Scotland been standing alone we would still be suffering from the recession to a much greater degree.

Perhaps Blair Jenkins supports more spending and even more borrowing. Perhaps he could tell us.
