Shinty glory
I was delighted to see that Lovat shinty club had won the Camanachd Cup by defeating Kyles Athletic last Saturday for the first time in 62 years (your report, 21 September).
As an enthusiastic teen- ager I was at the game 62 years ago when what was one of the greatest shinty teams of the 20th century defeated Kyles in Fort William to cap a year in which they won all the senior trophies available.
I remember particularly the slow journey home in the bus as it stopped at every hostelry on the road from Fort William to Kiltarlity to toast the team’s success.
