Sensitive golfers

The spokesman for Gleneagles (“Anger after wind farm approved”, 25 January) is following the noble tradition of trying to protect sensitive golfers from exposure to intrusion.

The precedents include not only Donald Trump — also concerned about distant wind farms, visible on the horizon in the rare event of a clear day in Aberdeen — but also the great PG Wodehouse. In The Clicking of Cuthbert, remember, Mitchell Holmes missed short putts because of the uproar of the butterflies in the adjoining meadows. One can’t be too careful.
