Seeing Red
We question how it can possibly be appropriate to kick off the Games by demolishing blocks of flats. It seems there has been no consideration given to the dire housing shortages and forced evictions taking place in many of the competing nations’ home countries – not to mention the ongoing contentious issues with Glasgow residents being displaced from their homes to make way for the Games.
Demolishing housing as entertainment is in very bad taste. Whatever we may feel about the standard of housing they provided, these were people’s homes. Is showcasing the destruction of housing the legacy Glasgow 2014 is aiming for?
