Scottish options

John Milne (Letters, 12 October) is wrong to claim that no information has been made available to the public on independence.

In 2009 the Scottish Government published a document, Your Scotland, Your Voice, which outlined the various options and made the positive case for Scotland to become a normal country just like the other 193 members of the United Nations.

So far I have yet to see a cogent case for continuing with our London dependency status rather than Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland forming a confederation of sovereign political units with shared facilities.

This vision of independence in the 21st century is very different from that concept in the days of the British Empire.
