Scots law eroded

It WOULD appear the SNP is hellbent on ditiching all that is unique and distinctive in our system of Scottish law, starting with dismantling our district courts and bringing an end to corroboration, and now moving to abandon not proven verdicts (your report, 22 June).

The legal profession in Scotland has raised serious concerns regarding this dilution of our ancient criminal laws in such a cavalier and reckless manner.

Ignoring sound advice from many legal experts may well lead the way to eroding the proper defence of the accused in our Scottish courts.
