Scots-British
I have always thought of myself as Scottish but, over the past couple of years, I have come to realise how important being Scots-British is to me. There is surely little more quintessentially English than the music of Vaughan Williams, the tales of Thomas Hardy or the landscapes of the Cotswolds, but I love each of these with a passion and rejoice in being able to claim these as part of my heritage.
Such sentiment will be dismissed as foolishly trivial against the great considerations of economics but, to me, it represents the complex richness of what it is to be British and is the very personal element of my decision to vote No. We are so much more than homo economicus.
