School’s out
WE were heartened to hear that the head teacher of Robert Douglas Memorial School in Perthshire has removed literature from outside evangelical group The Scripture Union after complaints from a parent.
In addition to being exclusively Christian propaganda, it also dangerously suggested that pupils should “talk to God” about bullying.
Religious groups must be free to promote their ideas to try to increase adult numbers, but not from intellectually developing young people in Scotland’s state education. To which other recruiting groups should schools open their doors?
If they wish, parents can take their children to church on Sunday instead.
