School priorities

The recent letters on the unelected position of religious representatives on to the boards of education committees has generated considerable heat, as such things do.

Might I suggest that the primary focus should be on the pupils and their learning?

Scottish schools have attained mediocre results in international test results and I would suggest that it really does not matter whether the board member is Christian, Muslim, Hindu, atheist or Jedi; he or she must be able to bring to the table informed, pertinent ideas likely to move our children’s attainments forward.
