Safety frustration

I was interested to read that a survey of members of the public indicates that the majority are in favour of some form of limitation and restriction being put on young drivers in order to try to reduce the risk of accidents and death (your report, 5 October).

This is an issue I feel very strongly about and, having pursued this with my MSP and MP and having written to the current and previous government’s transport ministers, I received the same bland reply which was also quoted in your article – that such restriction would penalise the majority for the sake of the mistakes of the minority.

This “no action” response is very frustrating to those who are concerned about this.

I believe that this is indeed a domestic issue which the voting public would like the government to act upon rather than dabbling in international affairs.
