Safe parliament

Gordon Brown’s recognition that under the status quo the very existence of the Scottish Parliament is not secure (your report, 3 September) is to be welcomed. Verily Westminster giveth and Westminster can take away even what you may seem to have.

The unionist parties control Westminster and if they accept Brown’s proposal they could have the necessary legislation passed before the referendum. But what happens if they will not and there is a No vote?
