RST’s role in helping refugees

IN JANET Christie’s excellent interview with Jackie Kay (Spectrum, 10 March) she neglected to mention that the Stop Destitution campaign is being co-ordinated jointly between Refugee Survival Trust (RST) and Scottish Refugee Council.

RST is a very small charity but they offer essential grants for those seeking asylum who find themselves destitute, last year giving out 688 grants to 844 individuals in desperate need. As such the Stop Destitution campaign is very close to the charity’s heart and they are proud to be a key partner in the call to end this inhumane policy.
