Sir Elton John should not object when someone else expresses a view about adoption which is different from his own. In a society which claims to have freedom of belief and freedom of speech we have to accept there are people who hold different opinions from our own and they have every right to express them.

Recent equalities legislation has not done away with the rights of people who hold traditional views of marriage or the opinion that every child has the better chance of a balanced upbringing if it has both a female and a male parent. Society respects that children have rights, not just adults.
