Respect in rugby

I share the dismay of your correspondents who deplore the conduct of a large number of Scots at Murrayfield and other sporting venues when playing against England. It is against the tradition of rugby to show the disrespect that the English have to suffer, and to boo during a national anthem is just plain ignorance.

How refreshing it was, therefore, to read the recent letter by our former Grand Slam-winning captain, David Sole, in which he spoke of the friendship and mutual respect between the Scots and English players as team-mates in the British Lions squads.
