Respect each other

I take exception to Mr Douglas Turner’s reference (Letters, 7 July) to my letter in this newspaper (4 July) as an “intemperate rant” and I can only assume that the editor of these letters allowed it in order to give me an opportunity to respond in kind.

I will refrain from stooping to the low level of rhetoric which has characterised SNP supporters’ contribution to the debate over the past few years but to merely point out to Turner that it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Turner and his kind started and continue what can only be described as an uncivil insulting war against anyone who does not share their narrow-minded independence refrain.

Empty vessels make most noise.
