Repeating errors

Alexander McKay (Letters, 20 July) is correct that the deal with Iran is not only a danger to Israel but to the whole world.

A country obsessed by apocalyptic visions cannot be trusted and the present deal is all too reminiscent of Chamberlain’s “peace in our time” which lasted not much more than a year.

The current demonisation of Israel for its opposition to its own threatened annihilation echoes that of the Czechs in 1938. As the philosopher George Santayana so eloquently put it: “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
