Renewed energy

Barry Hughes (Letters, 23 February) seems to be happy to “move to a completely renewable energy economy”.

Does he not realise that millions of us will have to ditch our gas cookers and central heating systems and buy electric cars?

To meet climate change targets the UK would have to build another 55,000 wind turbines needed for the extra green electricity before 2040 at an estimated cost of more than £500 billion.

Remind me, what are other countries not doing?
