Real anthems

Jim Caltman (Letters, 31 January) favours Auld Lang Syne as our national anthem. We could do much worse.

The late Reverend Alan Cameron – known for playing bagpipe for charity on Princes Street, including the Japanese anthem, Kimigayo, which I learned to play on bagpipe as a result – used to organise an annual Burns supper at which he would ask those present to sing Scotland’s international anthem, Auld Lang Syne, and then Scotland’s national anthem, Scots Wha Hae.
