You like the look of the newly painted skatepark at Saughton and celebrate libraries' new weekend opening hours

Most of you loved the images of skaters and local landmarks that professional graffiti artists have painted at the new skatepark in Saughton Park.

This looks great, nobody should have any complaints.

Looks pretty good when I drive past... but why are there no proper viewing facilities for both skaters and non-skaters?

If the skatepark was in the US, there would be 'bleachers' type seating (tiered scaffolding stands with wooden boards to sit on and hang out). It doesn't even cost a lot since it's easily assembled and can be moved around.

In fact there should be bleachers stands for all the kids' and adults' football matches that are played at Saughton Park.

Why can't we ever think of these BASIC things in this country? Everything's always missing some small intrinsic design that would make it 10X better.

Great!! How long before this area becomes the hub for the usual undesirable deadbeats that blight our society?

I see nothing that would attract politicians to this area on a regular basis.

Seriously though, are you referring to children and teenagers? That's who use things like this, and they deserve facilities to use. There's precious little else for them to do outdoors these days.

I'm referring not to the ones who will use this great new venue but the other wasters who will congregate and spoil it for others.

Most skate parks I used to use were all used by skaters and only very rarely attracted trouble makers.

But there were some of you who thought professional graffiti would encourage the amateurs to have a go.

Very unwise. This gives legitimacy to every half-wit with a spray-can.

I agree with Harriet. You've only got to look at the mess round the "authorised" graffiti wall at the back of the Festival Theatre.

You welcomed the news that city libraries are set to open for longer at the weekend.

And not before time, their Saturday hours just don't suit everyone, and Sunday would be the icing on the cake.

At long last the library service drags itself into the 21st century, only 10 years late mind. Meanwhile The Inch and Liberton have been waiting for the promised library for 48 years.

What about the staff? They are entitled to a weekend as well. When are they meant to do the shopping etc? It won't be the managers working at the weekend, it'll be the below national average wage workers.

What about the thousands of nurses, doctors, maintenance staff, shop staff et al (the list is endless) who work weekends? It is the 21st century unless you hadn't realised and a lot of workers are happy working "any five from seven".

Good move in my opinion!
