A pinched pensioners' lunch fund, patients are peeved at waiting times and the council learning from mistakes

Regulars at The Captains Bar have been sickened by thieves who stole a collection bottle for pensioners.

You can't get any lower than these bits of trash, but what happens to them if they are caught, probably community service in a charity shop.

While I agree with comments re thieves being scum, didn't this pub have an alarm? If not, I doubt the insurance will pay out and also takings shouldn't be left in till overnight.

We need to be tough on scum and tough on the causes of scum.

I don't want to make accusations, however, doesn't it seem a strange coincedence Hearts settled their electricity bill the following day.

"Cash from the collection is used to throw local pensioners a Christmas lunch..." How cruel. Why can't they just hand the lunch to the pensioners?

Waiting times to see a GP top the list of gripes among city patients.

You have to wonder at the Doctors sometimes, they ask you to make an appointment in a fortnight, then when you phone you are told they are not available. We used to have an open surgery in the mornings and although not brilliant you DID get to see the Doctor that day.

How many (if any) use expensive 0844 telephone numbers? It's a big gripe for many patients lumbered with these surgery numbers.

Dear Ms Sturgeon, Glad to see you think that surveys are a valuable measure of our public servants' endeavours. The GP Survey forms part of the GPs' New Contract performance related pay. It would be a wonderful idea if part of MPs and MSPs salary was attached to a constituent survey each year. How about it? What's good for the goose....

City leaders say they will learn from the past to avoid mistakes in planning the city's first new council homes for nearly 20 years.

Let's just hope that they improve the allocation policy while they are on this learning curve! Its all very well having nice houses, but give them to people who will look after and take pride in thier area, bring back the old system of vetting tenants thoroughly before allocation,if they fall short (asbo, noisy, brattish kids etc) let them go live in the concrete monstrosities.

You've pointed out the fundamental flaw - populate it with schemies and it will end up like every other cooncil scheme. I was working in Broomhouse when council revamped and upgraded the place at enormous cost ...within a year it was trashed again.

The above comments with restrictions on occupancy- I agree. Many many good people in the old town decanted to the outer wilderness all those years ago-to be tormented and their offspring too; Alas many offspring ended up being the tormentors.
