Leith fights back over the sewage works stench, Portobello looks set for a major development and our troops return home

The Leith Links Residents' Association is launching legal action against Scottish Water over the sewage works stench

Well done residents – I hope you win. This is a problem that should have been tackled years ago.

Let's hope the residents win, the stench is beyond compare and does bring a tear to one's eyes. Rumour has it that it flattens the beer in some Leith pubs.

Can't you just get a massive version of those things you press at home to neutralise the smell of jobbies?

Mince Pie Abendmahl

What did these people expect when they moved in next to a sewage works?

A massive development in Portobello is set to get the go-ahead despite objections from residents

Thankfully not everyone in Portobello is against everything, although there are not many of us.

I concur, Porty is full of nimbys, thankfully I ain't one of them, though we non-nimbys don't have much of a voice in Porty as the usual crowd of chief nimbys proclaim to be speaking for the whole of Porty.

A 100 million plan looks like it will go ahead in Porty, must be a big back-hander for someone.

The only concern I would have with this relates to the amount of traffic which will be generated by such a large development. Has this been considered and if so, was it taken into account when CEC revised Seafield Road/ Kings Road junction? If this was the case, did the developer contribute to the massive cost of this work?

What we will need is a roundabout to replace the traffic lights . . .

Thousands of well-wishers lined the Royal Mile to welcome Edinburgh's troops back home as they returned from Afghanistan

Tear-jerking parade and nothing to be ashamed of, it was wonderful to see these lads march the Royal Mile. It's thanks to them for our safety.

The Real Alfonsa Pedrosa

Nice to see them marching with pride.

Chirpy Council Worker

I was on the Royal Mile paying my respects and saw one soldier from the Rifles with a big grin on his face and full of pride. Well done lads and lassies, yet again you have done us proud.

Wouldn't you like to know

These violent fascists should be ashamed of themselves. The sooner we can disband the army, charge them all with their respective crimes and melt down the weapons the better. No doubt they all vote Tory – I'm 100 per cent sure that Labour could be on to a big thing by campaigning on this one.

Dave, you are entitled to your view, that is the British way. However, remember who it was that ensured you had and retained that right. The British armed forces.

Auld-Yin

It's idiots like you that forced many ordinary people to think twice about voting Labour.

Your remarks are an insult to the dead and injured who have fought for this country in all wars.
