The prospect of another Homecoming event failed to thrill. Posts too on 999 staff attacks and Marilyne MacLaren

SUMMER 2014. The date for the next Homecoming. Very few of you were shouting 'hooray'.

The Gold Bros will be delighted!

Mr Salmond said: "In 2014 the eyes of the world will be on Scotland." By which he means he wants the eyes of the world to be on him! Sadly for Salmond by 2014 he will no longer be First Minister.

It is a mickey-mouse event which the rest of the world will not even hear about, never mind have any interest in.

Dn ideann Bully Wee,

It is only a Tat Shop Extravaganza.Of course we may have a tram car or two running along Princes Street by then – or elephants flying!

Auld Reeky

Maybe Scotland could move on into the 21st century and not dwell on 700-year-old battles

Aman

Who's going to make this happen given that the suppliers have still not been paid for the last one?

NYC Hibee

But the more patriotic of you rallied to the First Minister's call

Excellent news, the last one was such a success.

Ecto,

Oh, I see the Salmond-obsessed Unionists are quick off the mark in their anti-SNP/Scottish cringe. How can increased revenue from a key Scottish market like tourism be a negative in a recession? An additional 57m, with exposure to other tourism markets all over the world. Tourist board and business welcome it – FACT

The story about attacks on emergency service staff had you boiling, although many of the remedies went beyond the law

What is wrong with those people?

Spathiphyllum

Scum pure and simple!

Wee Rabbie McDullard

Birch them and they wont do it again

I'll bet the prats that were convicted got off with little more than a rap over the knuckles. A mandatory jail sentence of at least 12 months for attacking emergency workers might act as a deterrent.

The depressing thing is the punishment that these people receive for abusing the emergency services, usually community service or a fine that barely even qualifies as a slapped wrist. By claiming poverty they often end up repaying a 50 fine at 5 a month . . . hardly a punishment.

Not much sympathy for the city's education leader, Marilyne MacLaren, who narrowly won a vote to remain in power

Yet more evidence – and isn't the dossier now bulging even more – that MacLaren is completely out of her depth in office. Even her own colleagues are turning on her.

Is she playing a very small moothie?

Unimpressed one

And, finally, sympathy for John Cleese, forced into an "alimony" tour

Feel a bit sorry for Cleese. He's been married several times and each time he gets divorced the anti-male legal system ensures he is fleeced, and his fortune given to his ex. His last wife got 12 million, allegedly, and he was only married to her for a few years. Seems absolutely disgraceful.
