Raw deal

In MANY recent cases, it seems that if a local government senior executive breaks employment conditions or brings the authority into disrepute leading to a suspension, then he/she can look forward to a guaranteed massive payout irrespective of the circumstances or duration of employment.

This situation is completely unacceptable and unfair both for the local authority and the taxpayer who have to foot the bill whilst seeing executives walking away with huge severance deals and regarding their employer as a financial "dripping roast".

There must be a better approach in defining employment terms for senior executives that both prevents such abuse and protects the taxpayer.
