Raise awareness about Hamas

IN HER article about the latest troubles involving Israel and Hamas, Dani Garavelli writes, “people with a social conscience will do what they can to raise awareness”. (Insight, 3 August).

There are countless voices who condemn what they see as the disproportionate response from Israel, when Hamas bombard Israel with missiles, and also condemn the occupied territories. They ignore the fact that Hamas wants to kill every Jewish citizen in Israel, men, women and children.

In 1967, the Arab states surrounding Israel boasted that they would drive all the Jews into the sea. If that’s not disproportionate, I don’t know what is.

Israel would like nothing more than to live in peace with her neighbours. Sadly, many of her neighbours don’t want to live in peace with her.
