Rail no answer

I don't want to prolong the exchange on the bridge, tunnel or, now, causeway as a replacement for the Forth Road Bridge. Neither am I prepared to enter into "it should all go by rail" as any right thinking person realises rail, useful as it can be, could not be the complete answer to the delivery of goods. Supermarkets don't have rail sidings.

Mr Farish (Letters, 22 and 24 March) has no concept of the regulations regarding what is considered hazardous for carriage by road. It is for the protection of the populace that the carriage of such goods is so tightly controlled.

Is he really suggesting the design engineers are lying when they say they have a solution to the wind problem?

The time for arguing is over. The time for building the bridge is now.
