Pull together

I am increasingly concerned at the vicious tone that the referendum debate is taking. By all
accounts, it will be a close run thing. I am worried about what happens after the declaration. Whatever the result, the losing side – a sizeable number – will have to accept it as the will of the Scottish people as a whole.

What we are seeing at the
moment is a number of institutions threatening to jump ship. This is exactly what Scotland does not need.

We will, after the result, whatever it is, accept it and pull
together to ensure that Scotland is a fit place for our children, grandchildren and successive generations to grow up in.

I am 70 and the thought of Scotland as a divided nation makes me sick. We have to get
behind the result and fight for a better Scotland.
