Promote Scots

The R&A’s decision to reduce certain drinks and food prices at this year’s Open Golf Championship in St Andrews (your report, 21 April) is to be welcomed.

In addition, they should promote Scottish-sourced and produced food as was well evidenced at last year’s Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

What was very noticeable at Muirfield in 2013, in addition to sky-high on-course prices, was that the food on offer appeared to be sourced from all quarters of the UK except Scotland, including the fish for the fish and chips.
