That was another neat U-turn by the Scottish Government as it bowed to good advice and common sense by scrapping the plan for a woman’s super-jail in the Central Belt in favour of small 
localised units providing essential care and support services.

The focus should now be on providing medical and health support for female offenders, many of whom require specialist treatment rather than just being locked up with inevitable dreadful suicide rates
