Powerline puzzle

Can anyone explain why Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission (Shet) is proceeding with a planning application for a sub-station and ten-mile pylon line to connect Stronelairg to the grid when the wind farm’s approval is subject to a legal challenge?

Surely until the result of the
judicial review comes out there
is no need to consider how to connect a theoretical wind farm to the grid unless Shet knows something that the rest of us don’t.

If anyone has any doubts about the suitability of the area for more pylons and sub-stations they should pop along and take a look at the Wester Balblair monstrosity at Beauly and the connecting Beauly to Denny line. Both are far worse than the local
population could ever have imagined.

It is somewhat baffling that the national grid south of the Border, in England and Wales, is reportedly looking at putting in more subterranean transmission lines because of the damage to the
environment of overhead lines in scenic areas.

Why there and not Scotland? Our scenery here is second to none and should be protected at all costs.
