Poor form

What a pity that St Johnstone chairman Steve Brown should spoil all the good will from his club’s first ever major trophy with a disgraceful gloat over Gretna’s demise, which nearly left two villages without any community facilities whatsoever.

His “I’m glad they failed” snide comment (Sport,
19 May) is rank hypocrisy from a man whose club was saved from bankruptcy in 1986 thanks to the largesse of his family’s building firm and a supermarket chain buying their old ground in return for building them a new one for free, saving the club a fortune on complying with the SPL’s all-seated stadium requirements, which financially crippled many others.
