Politicians adrift

While the need for food banks for hungry people in Britain has risen six-fold (Letters, 18 October) our government dishes out £18 billion every year in foreign aid for projects such as teaching African countries how to cope with climate change.

Can there be any clearer proof of the total disconnection between politicians and the people they are elected to protect?

By comparison, the policy of the Monster Raving Loony Party to eliminate unemployment by raising the school leaving age to 65 is pure genius.
