Political morality

Bob Taylor (Letters, 27 November) supposes holding “the balance of power” in Westminster is a main Nationalist party objective.

Rather, the primary purpose of a “Yes alliance” would be
to scupper the Scottish Labour Party.

This is the kind of amoral attitude which could easily alienate a large number of voters.

Isn’t what is being considered a form of organised large-scale tactical voting inimical to democracy?

Moreover, it raises a significant practical moral issue of being transparent and accountable to the electorate.

Can it be morally acceptable to bring together such a pot-pourri of political philosophies and policies?

Arguably, political parties should have moral principles which for the sake of power they won’t compromise.
