Police state

The revelation that police officers are still strutting around with guns (your report, 6 March) will dismay and alarm many people. This is despite a promise made by the Chief Constable that this practice would cease.

His other assurance, that the police would stop young people being subject to random searches, seems also to have gone by the wayside.

Stephen House in a very short space of time has shown he is not up to the job.

It is obvious that the
police need to be reined in and subject to more strict control otherwise we will be living in a police state before we know it.
