Police matters

I fear that the good sense expressed in Stephen’s McGinty’s article (about how the police should not waste their time investigating offensive tweets sent by people such as Katie Hopkins) will go unheeded among the political establishment and Scottish Police (Perspective, 3 January). Nothing better illustrates the gulf between them and the
general public than the
confused thinking behind such a police investigation.

And am I the only one who was dismayed and shocked by the warning last month from the police that they will be
monitoring the internet for
similar “offences”?

Have our police force nothing better to do in an era of falling crime?
