Point of view: Wind

ON New Year's Day, the Whitelee Wind Farm's website reported a temperature of 1C and a wind speed of 8.05 kilometres per hour. The same website claims a minimum wind speed of 14kph is required for the turbines to start working. Perhaps wind-farm supporters could explain how our lighting and heating will be supplied on cold days like this if we are to rely on wind farms for a large part of our electricity needs.
