Poetic licence?

I take exception to the assertion in your paper that no bard apart from William Topaz McGonagall commemorated the Tay Bridge disaster in verse. The poet, journalist and novelist Theodor Fontane (1819-1898), a giant of German 19th century literature, produced his ballad entitled The Tay Bridge only shortly after the tragedy.
