Plenty of support

Alexander McKay (Letters, 30 May) makes another less than subtle attempt to raise the spectre of “frightening Nationalism” following on from the tosh spouted on 29 May by Scott Arthur comparing the SNP to Ukip and referring to Nationalism as a “malign ideology”.

Of course, grown-up people who support the brand of civic Nationalism promoted by the SNP gave up being frightened by bogeymen when the left their childhood. Mr McKay says the SNP have an “Achilles heel”. If this is the case, it begs the question as to where the other parties are afflicted.

And with a majority in the Scottish Parliament, 56 MPs and more than 115,000 individual members, we in the SNP are limping along quite nicely thank you Mr McKay.
