Pledge to future

Yesterday in the Scotsman (Letters, 10 September) there was a plethora of letters
representing a variety of views on a range of issues. However, the one that leapt out of the page for me was from Patrick, Lord Cormack.

My grandchildren are not old enough to vote, but I’m writing an open letter to them all which I hope their parents will choose to share with them.

My message is simply to say to you all that if I thought voting Yes would harm your futures, I would abandon my loyalty to
independence in an instant.

And, additionally, I give you my word that as long as I live I will never subject you to the kind of grotesque display of emotional blackmail such as the one I witnessed in Wednesday’s Scotsman from a Lord of the realm of UK.
