Please stay

My MUM and dad are Scots, but I was born in Lancashire, grew up there and now represent in the UK parliament a community in Bedfordshire.

I am unquestionably British, an identity that may not exist after next week, and I am distraught at the thought. Years ago, as a young man with a new family, I visited Flodden. You will find, in the visitors book there, though I cannot remember the exact words, something like “Never again. Let nothing ever separate us to remind us of the sadness of this place”.

Please do not assume emotions run only in one direction in this debate. My family and I wait on your sidelines. Ours hearts are passionate for what Scotland means to you and to our Britishness; you hold them, as well as our future, in your hands.
